Chronic Scleroderma
- Scleroderma is a chronic disease characterized by excessive deposits of collagen. In order to better understand Scleroderma it helps if you have some understanding as to what collagen is. - Collagen is a fibrous protein that occurrsn bone, cartilage and connective tissue. It is a major structural protein that forms molecular cables to strengthen the tendons and vast, resilient sheets that support the skin and internal organs. There is no organ or tissue which does not have collagen. Collagen acts as the important support structure in tissues around which cells live and function. Elements of our body such as bones and teeth are made by adding mineral crystals to collagen. Scleroderma directly affects the skin, and in sometimes in more severe cases, it can affect the blood vessels and internal organs of the body. The most visible scleroderma symptom is the hardening of skin and associated scarring that goes along with it. This hardened skin will normally appear reddish or scaly in appearance. Often times this will allow blood vessels to be more visible. The most serious aspect of the disease to...
Smarten Up People Flush Toxins Away
First of all I want to tell you how fit I am today, then I will tell you how I used to be. I know you are saying to yourself, why I should be Interested how this guy feels. Well my friends there is a darn good reason for this. My name is Ralph Morton, I am 78 years old and I feel like I am 55. I play golf on a regular basis and shoot in the high 80 s. I walk, don t take a cart; I guess the reason is I hit the ball right down the middle, unlike my playing partners whole chase their ball from one side of the fairway to the other. They of course cover a lot of ground. Many times they say, I have had the same ball for a couple of years as I never lose it. They are wrong of course; I have been known to have lost a few. My point is I am a very different person than I was a few years ago. Going back about two and a half years ago, I had resigned myself to getting old, hey, I was 76, my wife and I both didn t realize it, but we had accepted old age. We didn t play golf any longer, I was fat, and had no drive at all. Our whole life had changed in just a few months. We just did the things old people do...
Starting Over
How does one start over after the loss of a loved one. It is a monumental task that just feels overwhelming at times. Similar rebuilding occurs after the death, divorce or separation of a loved one. First comes the shock of the loss and an almost denial that is has happened, particularly if there was no warning. We have hopes and dreams of the future that include our loved one and suddenly he or she is not there. How will we cope. How can we go on. But go on we must and we will. Often times our first step is to attempt to regain what we have lost. This is impossible if our loved one has died but that doesn t stop us from trying. A lot of what we go through in our grieving process is our best attempt to keep that person alive and well in our perception. So, we do things like go over the memories, look through picture albums, talk about our loved one to everyone who will listen, think about him or her every minute and even speak to him or her out loud. If a loved one has not died, but has chosen to walk out of your life, it can be more challenging. In this instance, you not only have to get over...
The Crazy Years
Remember your high school days. They were definitely crazy years. Whilst you had the whole struggle to fit in going on, there was also the major identity crisis taking its course through your life. Ah, the good old days. The only good thing about them is that they re now long gone. The fact of the matter is that hardly any of us really miss our high school days. Everyone always tells you will, and you probably expected to, but then you re surprised when you don t. In college, you re exposed to much more complex and more interesting situations. And you don t have the same trouble with spots. Remember, you had a face full of the horrible little creatures back in the good old days. Did you have a need for some ferocious treatment for that face-wrecking condition. Don t worry, you are not alone. It s just one of the setbacks of adolescence. Are you looking for some form of treatment for your acne. Sometimes those irritating little spots just never seem to go away. An unlucky few of us are left battling with outbreaks long after our teenage years are over. Often this problem can be related to your...
Cigarette Smoking A Major Risk Factor Of Chronic Bronchitis
Chronic bronchitis is a very common respiratory disease that involves inflammation and infection of the bronchial tubes, mucosal membranes and tissues. The disease is manifested by an overproduction of mucus that results in temporary obstruction of the airways. In the first stages of chronic bronchitis, the disease only affects the major airways, generating milder and less persistent symptoms. However, in more advanced stages of chronic bronchitis all airways are affected, preventing the proper oxygenation of the lungs due to pronounced obstruction of the respiratory tract. As the disease progresses further, chronic bronchitis sufferers may develop serious complications at the level of the lungs. Complicated forms of chronic bronchitis often involve emphysema or pneumonia. Chronic bronchitis is responsible for causing the so called smoker s cough . This persistent, highly productive cough has a pronounced recurrent character. In the incipient phase of chronic bronchitis, this symptom usually occurs in the morning and clears within a few hours. As the disease progresses, the smoker s cough is...
